Got Seeds? And another First Place!

Congrats to Bode and Haddie on a great pumpkin season. Yesterday they got another first place finish with their pumpkin. An eating establishment in Aurora will be putting it on display this next week. I asked the kids if they wanted to sell it and told them it meant they wouldn't be able to carve it as a jack-o-lantern and my son replied, "I want toys." He is a chip off the old block.

Haddie and I got the seeds out of the pumpkin this evening. I really like this cross. Both pumpkins are a nice orange, with an almost ribless skin and the 208 Johnson was flawless inside. If you would like some of the 208 Johnson (1129 Orleck x 1161 Rodonis) and you will grow them next year please let me know and I will get you one.

That pumpkin has great color!

I was wondering if I could ask you some questions in regards to hail netting. I believe I saw you at the weigh off, but I had to rush my son to his soccer game before I could introduce myself. I live in Cheyenne, WY and we get 4 to 5 hail storms a year. I didn't want to post my cell or email address and didn't know if there was a better way to get in touch with you to ask you some questions. Is there a private post area that I can use on your site?

Best Regards,

Hey Jamie;
There is a terrible rumor going around that you took your kids prize and purchased gypsum and sulphur. Say it ain't so, or at least that you bought them toys in trade!

If you could spare a few of those seeds from the 208 Johnson, I would appreciate it. That's a beautiful pumpkin and I'm thinking I'll be healthy enough next spring to attend to a plant or two.

Thanks,
Alan Malkiel

Hey Alan,

The rumor is only partically true. The kids didn't seem overly interested in fertilizers and sulfur so I traded them for dinner at McDonalds which to them was more than a fair trade. Lol

I'd be more than happy to give you some seeds. Send me an email at jamieATpixoinc.com (replace AT with @) and I'll give you my address.

Congrats to your kids & their pumpkins! They did a great job. Do you know what eating establishment in Aurora their pumpkin will be on display at? I'd love to snag some of those seeds. I have a couple of neighbors that would also plant them in their gardens next year.

The place that the kid's pumpkin is at is called Dry Dock Brewing. Send me an email at jamieATpixoinc.com (replace AT with @) and I'll give you instructions on how to get some seeds.
